26 November 2019 12:00am–11:59pm
The general election on the 12th December can’t just be about Brexit. Not when our public services are in crisis. Now it’s time to start reversing the damage caused by cuts to jobs, pay and services.
Who can register?
You can register if you’re both:
- aged 16 or over (or 14 or over in Scotland)
- a UK citizen (or an Irish, EU or commonwealth citizen with a permanent UK address)
Apply for a postal vote
Anyone can apply to vote by post. You don’t need to give a reason.
So if you might find it difficult to get to your polling station when it’s dark and freezing, or you’re busy preparing for Christmas, don’t lose your vote! Apply for a postal vote and vote from home.
Going abroad? Vote by proxy
It can take time to vote by post from overseas. If you can’t send off your postal vote before you leave the UK, consider voting by proxy.
You can ask anyone to act as your proxy, as long as they are registered to vote and it’s for a type of election they’re allowed to vote in.
You can be a proxy for two people at the same election, or more if the extra people are close relatives.
